			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>We&#8217;ve had 2 years to figure out who Obama is. Let&#8217;s face it, the majority of Americans had no idea who Obama was or what kind of leader he would be. He had been a community organizer, whatever that was, voted &#8220;present&#8221; in the Illinois state legislature, which seemed bipartisanship-y (really, people?) and was a US Senator for 2 short years (with nothing to show for it) before launching his Presidential campaign.</p>
<p><strong>We&#8217;ve had two long, disastrous, chaotic years with bill after bill stuffed down our throats. Last night was our chance to reject the massively destructive agenda we&#8217;ve witnessed over the last 2 years, and </strong><strong><em>WE DID!</em></strong></p>
<p><strong>Republicans gained more than 500 legislative seats across the country. While we continue to sip on our Slurpees in celebration, let&#8217;s see what we&#8217;ve won. </strong></p>
<p>First, let&#8217;s look at the NATIONAL scene.</p>
<p><strong>1. Republicans win the House!</strong></p>
<p>Ding, dong, the witch is dead. Nancy Pelosi will be packing up her office soon and John Boehner is the Presumptive Speaker of the House. If he fights and talks like <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_gFC3kVZTCk""target=_blank">this</a>, then we have a chance to defund ObamaCare. Listen, Obama says the Republicans have driven a car in a ditch. That&#8217;s not true. If America is a car, we&#8217;re always in motion. He&#8217;s in the driver&#8217;s seat and he&#8217;s driving 150 mph on a long, windy, country rode. We can&#8217;t hit the brakes because we&#8217;re not driving. But we can pull the parking brake. That&#8217;s what we did last night. We changed who is sitting in the front seat next to Obama so they can pull up the parking brake. Sure, we might fishtail or spin around, but that&#8217;s what we need to do! Stop the dang car and turn it around! Our lives are at stake here! (Obama uses these ridiculous car memes because he&#8217;s in charge of a car company now. Way to go, Government Motors.) Look at all this <a href="http://www.cnn.com/ELECTION/2010/results/main.results/#val=H""target=_a">red </a>and enjoy the change in view from the back of the car to the front.</p>
<p><strong>2. Republicans gained 5 Senate seats.</strong></p>
<p>Yeah, I know, we wanted more. We wanted Harry &#8220;this war is lost&#8221; Reid sent back to Searchlight, Nevada. We wanted Senator Ma&#8217;am Boxer boxing up her DC crib and shuffling back to California, too. We wanted everything and the kitchen sink, but we don&#8217;t have to get it all in one trip. Knowing the state that sent Snarlin&#8217; Arlen Specter home for the primary and didn&#8217;t elect his opponent in the general feels extremely liberating. Let Specter squawk and condescend those at his local coffee shop, just get him packed, out of his office and off my TV during judiciary hearings. He <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KgpSoiiWNww""target=_blank">awakened the sleeping giant</a> in Pennsylvania and it showed him the door, and his party. We also took Obama&#8217;s former seat (how you like them apples, Barry?). So that&#8217;s Pennsylvania and Illinois along with Wisconsin, Indiana, North Dakota and Arkansas. (You can see the map <a href="http://www.cnn.com/ELECTION/2010/results/main.results/#val=S""target=_blank">here</a>.)
<p> I&#8217;ll always take more wins than losses but I think this sets up the Republicans well for the Presidential run for 2012. Even when Obama had the majority in the House and Senate, he said the Republicans were obstructionists. Imagine how many people would believe him if both chambers had switched from blue to red. Look, even if we had taken the Senate we wouldn&#8217;t have had enough to repeal ObamaCare. As much as the American people have rejected ObamaCare, some lack the stomach to fight for it. They&#8217;re waiting to &#8220;test the waters&#8221; when they don&#8217;t realize that one sip will do you in. We must spend the next 18 months sounding the alarm on the deadly effects of ObamaCare while encouraging the electorate that they can actually do something about it!</p>
<p> Now let&#8217;s zoom in and look at the STATE scene.</p>
<p><strong>1. Republicans swept the <a href="http://www.cnn.com/ELECTION/2010/results/main.results/#val=G""target=_blank">Gubernatorial races</a> in 26 states.</strong></p>
<p>They kept 7 and gained 10, including Michigan, Ohio and Pennsylvania. South Carolina has elected their first female Governor, which will matter to those who love identity politics, but just makes me plum happy because my home state got it right (yay, Nikki Haley!). As for the Democrats, they kept 6 and gained 2. If you look at how The Governator has led California, I wouldn&#8217;t blame you if your tallies were 7 kept, 1 gained.</p>
<p>If you aren&#8217;t sure how a Governor&#8217;s race can affect the mood of the country, look no further than Jan Brewer and her fight on illegal immigration and its murderous effect on cities in her state. Or, Bobby Jindal who didn&#8217;t pull punches over the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico and Obama&#8217;s reactionary job-killing oil drilling moratorium. Who lives in the Governors mansion matter to us as individuals (I have another 4 years of Deval Patrick, no thanks to the &#8220;Independent&#8221; Tim Cahill, thank you very much) but they can sue the Federal Government over ObamaCare and take cases to the Supreme Court that affect all of us. I&#8217;m looking at those 26 states to see which ones to put on my destination list for my next move. I&#8217;m not sure how much longer I can put up with Massacusetts. 8 years is a heck of a long time!</p>
<p><strong>2. To go along with those Governorships, Republicans now run 55 legislative chambers.</strong> </p>
<p>That&#8217;s up from 36. If you aren&#8217;t sure if the message of fiscal reality and responsibility has taken hold, look at this number. The people have gone to the polls for local and national issues and the message has been sent.</p>
<p><strong>In Conclusion</strong></p>
<p>
<ol>
1. Obama will not heed the message. As you well know, he held a press conference today. His answers boil down to, &#8220;I Won.&#8221;<br />
2. The GOP is on notice. They need to be the Grand Ol&#8217; Party and not the Grand Ol&#8217; Parent or the Grand Ol&#8217; Patronizer.<br />
3. John Boehner and the House of Representatives need to roll up their sleeves and fight, fight, fight. Learn to throw a proverbial right hook and use it.<br />
4. This is a win, a big win. But it&#8217;s a win at the ground floor. We need to support those Republicans that have won SO LONG AS they support us and our efforts to halt Obama&#8217;s agenda.<br />
5. We need to get together and make our message for 2012 crystal clear. We&#8217;ll be fighting each other over the Presidential nomination, no doubt, but if our goal isn&#8217;t to Stop Obama then shame on us. If our own personal favorite doesn&#8217;t win and we whine about it, then good job. You just got us 4 more years of Barack Obama. </ol>
</p>
<p>See the big picture. Focus on the big picture. Adopt the big picture. Otherwise, this wave will crash and burn. I&#8217;d rather ride it all the way through 2012 myself.</p>

		<description><![CDATA[We've vented our frustrations, we've gathered and we've prayed.</p>
Tomorrow ... we vote.
Tomorrow ... we FLIP that House!
Tomorrow we'll be giving candidates the opportunity to get it right. We'll be watching closely. <strong>Call yourself a conservative? Prove it!

For months now we've been saying, <em>"We can see November from our house!"
November is finally here.</strong> Washington has been ignoring us but they can't ignore the pink slips we'll be handing out November 2nd.

In the words of the President, "ARE YOU FIRED UP?! READY TO GO?!" I am! Now get out there and make it happen! Let's undo the damage and restore America to her greatness once again!]]></description>
			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><strong><em>ARE YOU FIRED UP?! READY TO GO?!</em></strong></P></p>
<p>In case you&#8217;re in need of a little jolt, let&#8217;s take a quick trip down memory lane, shall we?</p>
<p>In January of this year we rallied around Scott Brown in his quest to be the 41st vote against ObamaCare. In a stunning victory, he ripped &#8220;Ted Kennedy&#8217;s Seat&#8221; from the grip of liberalism and reminded everyone that it was &#8220;The People&#8217;s Seat.&#8221;</p>
<p><b>In electing Republican Scott Brown in Blue Massachusetts, we sent a message: The Senate will NOT pass ObamaCare.</b></p>
<p><em><strong>So the House did</strong>.</em></p>
<p>The House adopted the Senate&#8217;s earlier version of the behemoth, life-killing healthcare bill in order to keep it from returning to the Senate where Scott Brown could cast the deciding vote against it.</p>
<ul>The same House that voted FOR cap-and-trade.<br />
The same House that approved spending bill after spending bill after spending bill.<br />
The same House that stimulated their own interests, but not our economy.<br />
The same House that bailed out banks. And Government Motors. And the United Autoworkers Union. And the States with unbalanced budgets. And teachers unions.</ul>
</p>
<p> So what did we do about it?</p>
<p>
<ul>We pulled out our pocket Constitutions and rededicated ourselves to it.<br />
We rallied in our neighborhoods.<br />
We fashioned clever slogans and made our own signs.<br />
We tweeted.<br />
We posted articles on our Facebook pages.<br />
We broadened our email distribution lists.<br />
We met up and began to plan.<br />
We rallied again. This time in DC. Against ObamaCare.<br />
We initiated conversations about the state of our country with everyone, not just our politically-minded friends, family and colleagues.<br />
We brushed up on American history.<br />
We learned to better articulate the failure of socialism everywhere it&#8217;s been tried.<br />
We sojourned to DC (or in spirit by watching it on CSPAN or online) to join fellow Americans in praying for our country, promising to restore its honor, and realizing the gravity of the situation if we weren&#8217;t serious.</ul>
</p>
<p>We&#8217;ve vented our frustrations, we&#8217;ve gathered and we&#8217;ve prayed.</p>
<p><strong>Tomorrow &#8230; we vote.<br />
Tomorrow &#8230; we FLIP that House!</strong></p>
<p> For months now we&#8217;ve been saying, <em>&#8220;We can see November from our house!&#8221; </em><strong>November is finally here.</strong> Washington has been ignoring us but they can&#8217;t ignore the pink slips we&#8217;ll be handing out tomorrow, November 2nd, <em>if you get out and vote</em>.</p>
<p> <a href="http://hotair.com/archives/2010/11/01/gallup-this-midterm-election-has-gone-where-no-party-has-gone-before/""target=_a">Heed this warning</a> from Ed Morrissey of Hot Air:</p>
<blockquote><p>Of course, all this means nothing if Republicans don’t turn out to vote tomorrow. It’s not enough to watch the polls and figure that these elections have been won. Tomorrow, Republicans and independents get to send a message to Washington and change the direction of its economic and fiscal policies, in what could be a historical rebuke and a real mandate to return to a limited government approach at the federal level. Don’t miss your opportunity to be part of history tomorrow.</p></blockquote>
<p>In the words of the President, <strong><em>&#8220;ARE YOU FIRED UP?! READY TO GO?!&#8221;</em></strong></p>
<p><strong>I am! Now let&#8217;s get out there and make it happen! Let&#8217;s work together to undo the damage and restore America to her greatness once again! No more taking our votes for granted! No more calling yourself a conservative and voting like a liberal! No more running up the bill and leaving the tab to our children! No more! Not on our watch! We WILL make our voices heard November 2nd! WE ARE FIRED UP! WE ARE READY TO GO! We are the Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave! Listen to Lewis sing the 2nd verse of our National Anthem and then pick up the phone! Call your friends. Give your neighbors a ride to the polling booth. We can do this. We can send our message. Again. Vote Out The Dems in 2010!</strong></p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><strong>You&#8217;ve heard of the Slaughter Rule.</strong> It means that, if used, the House would <strong>NOT</strong> vote on the <a href="http://frwebgate.access.gpo.gov/cgi-bin/getdoc.cgi?dbname=111_cong_bills&#038;docid=f:h3962eh.txt.pdf""target=_blank">Senate version of the health care bill</a> (a move that is required in order for the health care bill to be passed). Instead, the House will vote on a <a href="http://docs.house.gov/rules/hr4872/111_hr4872_amndsub.pdf""target=_blank">reconciliation bill</a> that would &#8220;fix health care issues&#8221; like eliminate the FFEL Program from student lending. </p>
<p>That&#8217;s right. Student loans and health care. They go together like chocolate chip cookies and a tall glass of Pine-Sol. The changes state that &#8220;savings&#8221; from removing the Federal Family Education Loan Program will go to increase the per student Federal Pell Grant. (You do know that a community college student with a Pell Grant can walk away with a refund check that&#8217;s derived solely from Pell Grant proceeds, right? Just a little something for you to mull over, as if this health care debacle isn&#8217;t bad enough.) </p>
<p>Those &#8220;savings&#8221; from eliminating FFELP will also off-set health care costs, too. Yeah, um, okay. (By the way, the elimination of the FFEL Program means choice in student lending is over and the only option students will have is the Department of Education. In case you aren&#8217;t aware, the US Department of Education has been telling schools for a year they need to begin setting up their processes to handle this switch as it was inevitable with Obama as President.) </p>
<p><strong>Back to the Slaughter Rule.</strong> If the House votes for those proposed changes, then they will &#8220;deem&#8221; the Senate bill as having been passed, although no votes were actually cast for or against the Senate bill. </p>
<p><strong>Then, the Senate bill that the Senate passed and the House &#8220;deemed to have passed&#8221; is sent to the President to sign, the &#8220;Cornhusker Kickback&#8221; and &#8220;Louisiana Purchase&#8221; included. </strong></p>
<p><strong>The Slaughter Rule seems underhanded, doesn&#8217;t it? That&#8217;s BECAUSE IT IS.</strong></p>
<p>What about the &#8220;fix&#8221; that includes the elimination of FFELP? That reconciliation bill will be sent to the Senate for their vote. Since it&#8217;s a reconciliation bill, the Senate only needs <a href="http://online.wsj.com/article/SB124078888721857543.html""target=_blank">51 votes</a> to pass it. The original Senate bill didn&#8217;t have pro-life language in it so it&#8217;s not a given the Senate will pass the reconciliation bill. If they make any changes to the reconciliation bill, it has to go back to the House. The question is, will pro-life Democrats in the House, like Bart Stupak of Michigan, trust the Senate to pass the changes? Are there more procedural tricks up Nancy Pelosi&#8217;s sleeve to somehow assuage Stupak&#8217;s concern, maintain the large pro-abortion coalition in the House and get the bill passed? (By passed I mean, deemed-and-by-default-passed.) [UPDATE: According to HotAir, there is a possible <a href="http://hotair.com/archives/2010/03/19/chaos-pelosi-reaches-deal-with-stupak-for-senate-abortion-vote/""target=_blank">hand to play</a> between Pelosi and Stupak to do just that. Will it ever end??]</p>
<p><strong>So much for Scott Brown being central to defeating health care, right? Wrong.</strong> The election of Scott Brown has brought to light all the dirty tactics the left is willing to use, like the Slaughter Rule, to cram government-controlled health care down the throats of the American people. </p>
<p>Perhaps Representative Stephen Lynch (D-MA) is a little nervous that his home state elected a Republican. <strong>Although he voted for the initial House version of the bill, he is saying he will vote against the Senate version. Ah, but what about the Slaughter Rule?</strong> He was quoted in a Boston Globe <a href="http://www.boston.com/news/politics/politicalintelligence/2010/03/lynch_will_vote.html?p1=Well_MostPop_Emailed7""target=_blank">article</a> saying the Slaughter Rule &#8220;<a href="http://www.earthtimes.org/articles/show/judicial-watch-slaughter-rule-unconstitutional,1213251.shtml""target=_blank">may be unconstitutional</a>&#8221; and using it would damage their credibility.</p>
<blockquote><p>Lynch also criticized the procedure Democrats are considering using to pass the legislation – by “deeming” the Senate bill approved, instead of voting directly on the Senate bill itself. Repeating a comment reported by the Boston Herald today, he called the procedure “disingenuous.” <strong>Echoing Republican complaints, he also said it “may be unconstitutional” because it wouldn’t involve an up-or-down vote on legislation.</strong></p>
<p>“It’s a stretch,” he said. “<strong>I think it hurts our credibility to try to pull a prank like that. </strong>We should stand up and tell voters where we stand.”</p>
<p><strong>Nonetheless, Lynch predicted it would pass.</strong></p>
<p>“I think the president and speaker Pelosi are fairly persuasive,” he said. “They wouldn’t call on a vote unless they had the votes.”</p></blockquote>
<p><strong>He predicted it would pass? Well, what do you know? Stephen Lynch voted <a href="http://clerk.house.gov/evs/2010/roll129.xml""target=_blank">FOR</a> the Slaughter Rule the same day the article appeared!</strong> Imagine that.</p>
<p>Are you still confused over the Slaughter Rule? Here&#8217;s all you need to know: In voting to use the Slaughter Rule to bypass actually voting for the health care bill, the House has slaughtered the oath they each took to uphold and defend the Constitution. As Article 1, Section 7 states, &#8220;Every Bill which shall have passed the House of Representatives and the Senate, shall, before it become a Law, be presented to the President of the United States.&#8221; A bill that has not passed the House but has been &#8220;deemed&#8221; as passed through a procedural Slaughter Rule and is signed into law by the President will find itself headed to court.</p>
<p>Are you still confused? I don&#8217;t blame you. This 90 second video pieced together by the NRCC (National Republican Congressional Committee) will quickly explain, not how a bill becomes a law, but how a bill gets &#8220;demon passed&#8221; in a House run by Nancy Pelosi. </p>
<p><object width="640" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/Brh-hGr8mXo&#038;border=1&#038;color1=0xb1b1b1&#038;color2=0xcfcfcf&#038;hl=en_US&#038;feature=player_embedded&#038;fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/Brh-hGr8mXo&#038;border=1&#038;color1=0xb1b1b1&#038;color2=0xcfcfcf&#038;hl=en_US&#038;feature=player_embedded&#038;fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" allowScriptAccess="always" width="425" height="385"></embed></object></p>
<p>For those of you wondering, &#8220;demonpass&#8221; may not have entered the nation&#8217;s vernacular so readily were it not for a Carly Fiorina campaign ad, known as the &#8220;demon sheep&#8221; ad. If you haven&#8217;t seen it yet, or need a dose of laughter after all this Slaughterhouse activity, here it is for your viewing pleasure.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><a href="http://www.freestrongamerica.com/pa/ge/55/learn-about-mitt""target=_blank">Mitt Romney</a> addressed <a href="http://cpac.org/""target=_blank">CPAC</a> yesterday in a well-delivered and well-received speech. Romney has been embraced by CPAC the last few years and <a href="http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0210/33161.html""target=_blank">this year is no exception</a>.</p>
<p><strong>Below are my favorite sound bites, mostly because of the mouth-watering red meat. Bon appetit! </strong></p>
<p>Just when everyone thinks Mitt is going to mention his encounter with the man on the airplane during he and his wife Ann&#8217;s <a href="http://www.theglobeandmail.com/blogs/bureau-blog/romney-threatened-by-air-canada-passenger/article1469196/""target=_blank">return trip from the Winter Olympics in Vancouver</a>, he takes a sharp turn and lands a power punch:</p>
<p><a href='<object id='cspan-video-player' classid='clsid:d27cdb6eae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000' codebase='http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=9,0,0,0' align='middle' height='500' width='410'><param name='allowScriptAccess' value='true'/><param name='movie' value='http://www.c-spanvideo.org/videoLibrary/assets/swf/CSPANPlayer.swf?pid=292148-10&#038;start=735&#038;end=785'/><param name='quality' value='high'/><param name='bgcolor' value='#ffffff'/><param name='allowFullScreen' value='true'/><param name='flashvars' value='system=http://www.c-spanvideo.org/common/services/flashXml.php?programid=219791&#038;style=full&#038;start=735&#038;end=785'/><embed name='cspan-video-player' src='http://www.c-spanvideo.org/videoLibrary/assets/swf/CSPANPlayer.swf?pid=292148-10&#038;start=735&#038;end=785' base='http://www.c-spanvideo.org/videoLibrary/assets/swf/' allowScriptAccess='always' bgcolor='#ffffff' quality='high' allowFullScreen='true' type='application/x-shockwave-flash' pluginspage='http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer' flashvars='system=http://www.c-spanvideo.org/common/services/flashXml.php?programid=219791&#038;style=full&#038;start=735&#038;end=785' align='middle' height='500' width='410'></embed></object></a></p>
<p><strong>Romney then gives a shout-out to Massachusetts and the victory of <a href="http://theladypatriot.com/2010/01/19/massachusetts-this-browns-for-you/""target=_blank">Republican Scott Brown!</a></strong></p>
<p><object id='cspan-video-player' classid='clsid:d27cdb6eae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000' codebase='http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=9,0,0,0' align='middle' height='500' width='410'><param name='allowScriptAccess' value='true'/><param name='movie' value='http://www.c-spanvideo.org/videoLibrary/assets/swf/CSPANPlayer.swf?pid=292148-10&#038;start=864&#038;end=922'/><param name='quality' value='high'/><param name='bgcolor' value='#ffffff'/><param name='allowFullScreen' value='true'/><param name='flashvars' value='system=http://www.c-spanvideo.org/common/services/flashXml.php?programid=219791&#038;style=full&#038;start=864&#038;end=922'/><embed name='cspan-video-player' src='http://www.c-spanvideo.org/videoLibrary/assets/swf/CSPANPlayer.swf?pid=292148-10&#038;start=864&#038;end=922' base='http://www.c-spanvideo.org/videoLibrary/assets/swf/' allowScriptAccess='always' bgcolor='#ffffff' quality='high' allowFullScreen='true' type='application/x-shockwave-flash' pluginspage='http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer' flashvars='system=http://www.c-spanvideo.org/common/services/flashXml.php?programid=219791&#038;style=full&#038;start=864&#038;end=922' align='middle' height='500' width='410'></embed></object></p>
<p><strong>Then, like a teacher to his pupil, Romney reviews the failures of Obama&#8217;s first year and mocks his self-proclaimed grade of B+.</strong> The only thing that would have made his jab at Al Gore better is if he had replaced &#8220;the internet&#8221; with &#8220;global warming.&#8221; Romney has a way to go on unequivocally rejecting anthropogenic global warming <a href="http://www.americanthinker.com/2010/02/the_agw_smoking_gun.html""target=_blank">(AGW)</a> but maybe he&#8217;ll come around sooner rather than later. Time will certainly tell. At least he&#8217;s on record for being against Cap-and-Tax.</p>
<p><object id='cspan-video-player' classid='clsid:d27cdb6eae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000' codebase='http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=9,0,0,0' align='middle' height='500' width='410'><param name='allowScriptAccess' value='true'/><param name='movie' value='http://www.c-spanvideo.org/videoLibrary/assets/swf/CSPANPlayer.swf?pid=292148-10&#038;start=929&#038;end=1002'/><param name='quality' value='high'/><param name='bgcolor' value='#ffffff'/><param name='allowFullScreen' value='true'/><param name='flashvars' value='system=http://www.c-spanvideo.org/common/services/flashXml.php?programid=219791&#038;style=full&#038;start=929&#038;end=1002'/><embed name='cspan-video-player' src='http://www.c-spanvideo.org/videoLibrary/assets/swf/CSPANPlayer.swf?pid=292148-10&#038;start=929&#038;end=1002' base='http://www.c-spanvideo.org/videoLibrary/assets/swf/' allowScriptAccess='always' bgcolor='#ffffff' quality='high' allowFullScreen='true' type='application/x-shockwave-flash' pluginspage='http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer' flashvars='system=http://www.c-spanvideo.org/common/services/flashXml.php?programid=219791&#038;style=full&#038;start=929&#038;end=1002' align='middle' height='500' width='410'></embed></object></p>
<p><strong>Get my steak knife! Romney reminds us of Supreme Court Justice Sam Alito&#8217;s rebuke of President Obama during the State of the Union Address.</strong> If you haven&#8217;t watched <a href="http://hotair.com/archives/2010/01/27/not-true-alito-mouths-words-as-obama-hammers-supreme-court/""target=_blank">Alito mouthing the words &#8220;Not true&#8221;</a> over and over, you must. It&#8217;s finger licking good!</p>
<p><object id='cspan-video-player' classid='clsid:d27cdb6eae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000' codebase='http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=9,0,0,0' align='middle' height='500' width='410'><param name='allowScriptAccess' value='true'/><param name='movie' value='http://www.c-spanvideo.org/videoLibrary/assets/swf/CSPANPlayer.swf?pid=292148-10&#038;start=1003&#038;end=1057'/><param name='quality' value='high'/><param name='bgcolor' value='#ffffff'/><param name='allowFullScreen' value='true'/><param name='flashvars' value='system=http://www.c-spanvideo.org/common/services/flashXml.php?programid=219791&#038;style=full&#038;start=1003&#038;end=1057'/><embed name='cspan-video-player' src='http://www.c-spanvideo.org/videoLibrary/assets/swf/CSPANPlayer.swf?pid=292148-10&#038;start=1003&#038;end=1057' base='http://www.c-spanvideo.org/videoLibrary/assets/swf/' allowScriptAccess='always' bgcolor='#ffffff' quality='high' allowFullScreen='true' type='application/x-shockwave-flash' pluginspage='http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer' flashvars='system=http://www.c-spanvideo.org/common/services/flashXml.php?programid=219791&#038;style=full&#038;start=1003&#038;end=1057' align='middle' height='500' width='410'></embed></object></p>
<p><strong>If Obama truly thought he earned a B+ for his first year&#8217;s performance as Leader of the Free World, why does he need fall guys?</strong> Perhaps it&#8217;s a reflex of studying Saul Alinsky. Perhaps he&#8217;s hedging his bets. Either way, he needs to redirect attention off his unsuccessful first year. Romney wastes no time dismantling Obama&#8217;s excuses for his three favorite go-to blame game targets.</p>
<ul>
<li><strong>Target 1: Obama blames the GOP by calling them the Party of No. More like the Party of Saying No to the Wrong Things!</strong></li>
</ul>
<p><object id='cspan-video-player' classid='clsid:d27cdb6eae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000' codebase='http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=9,0,0,0' align='middle' height='500' width='410'><param name='allowScriptAccess' value='true'/><param name='movie' value='http://www.c-spanvideo.org/videoLibrary/assets/swf/CSPANPlayer.swf?pid=292148-10&#038;start=1124&#038;end=1189'/><param name='quality' value='high'/><param name='bgcolor' value='#ffffff'/><param name='allowFullScreen' value='true'/><param name='flashvars' value='system=http://www.c-spanvideo.org/common/services/flashXml.php?programid=219791&#038;style=full&#038;start=1124&#038;end=1189'/><embed name='cspan-video-player' src='http://www.c-spanvideo.org/videoLibrary/assets/swf/CSPANPlayer.swf?pid=292148-10&#038;start=1124&#038;end=1189' base='http://www.c-spanvideo.org/videoLibrary/assets/swf/' allowScriptAccess='always' bgcolor='#ffffff' quality='high' allowFullScreen='true' type='application/x-shockwave-flash' pluginspage='http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer' flashvars='system=http://www.c-spanvideo.org/common/services/flashXml.php?programid=219791&#038;style=full&#038;start=1124&#038;end=1189' align='middle' height='500' width='410'></embed></object></p>
<ul>
<li><strong>Target 2: Obama blames the American People, the very ones who elected him to the Presidency.</strong></li>
</ul>
<p><object id='cspan-video-player' classid='clsid:d27cdb6eae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000' codebase='http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=9,0,0,0' align='middle' height='500' width='410'><param name='allowScriptAccess' value='true'/><param name='movie' value='http://www.c-spanvideo.org/videoLibrary/assets/swf/CSPANPlayer.swf?pid=292148-10&#038;start=1192&#038;end=1318'/><param name='quality' value='high'/><param name='bgcolor' value='#ffffff'/><param name='allowFullScreen' value='true'/><param name='flashvars' value='system=http://www.c-spanvideo.org/common/services/flashXml.php?programid=219791&#038;style=full&#038;start=1192&#038;end=1318'/><embed name='cspan-video-player' src='http://www.c-spanvideo.org/videoLibrary/assets/swf/CSPANPlayer.swf?pid=292148-10&#038;start=1192&#038;end=1318' base='http://www.c-spanvideo.org/videoLibrary/assets/swf/' allowScriptAccess='always' bgcolor='#ffffff' quality='high' allowFullScreen='true' type='application/x-shockwave-flash' pluginspage='http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer' flashvars='system=http://www.c-spanvideo.org/common/services/flashXml.php?programid=219791&#038;style=full&#038;start=1192&#038;end=1318' align='middle' height='500' width='410'></embed></object></p>
<ul>
<li><strong>Target 3: Obama blames his predecessor. The current President falls back on the &#8220;Blame Bush&#8221; mantra with almost every breath and certainly as frequently as he utters &#8220;um&#8221; or &#8220;ah&#8221; when the TelePrompTer isn&#8217;t in use.</strong> Think about it. Invoking George W. Bush was toxic during the 2008 election. It didn&#8217;t take too long to realize Obama <strong>is</strong> worse than Bush and that change for the sake of change can win elections but change towards the wrong direction can wreck a country. Who would have thought one year ago we would be talking about a <a href="http://www.npr.org/blogs/thetwo-way/2010/02/miss_me_yet_billboard_mystery.html""target=_blank">&#8220;Miss Me Yet?&#8221;</a> billboard in Minnesota?<strong> Stay with this clip until the end as the mention of Dick Cheney receives a roar of applause!</li>
</ul>
<p><object id='cspan-video-player' classid='clsid:d27cdb6eae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000' codebase='http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=9,0,0,0' align='middle' height='500' width='410'><param name='allowScriptAccess' value='true'/><param name='movie' value='http://www.c-spanvideo.org/videoLibrary/assets/swf/CSPANPlayer.swf?pid=292148-10&#038;start=1322&#038;end=1417'/><param name='quality' value='high'/><param name='bgcolor' value='#ffffff'/><param name='allowFullScreen' value='true'/><param name='flashvars' value='system=http://www.c-spanvideo.org/common/services/flashXml.php?programid=219791&#038;style=full&#038;start=1322&#038;end=1417'/><embed name='cspan-video-player' src='http://www.c-spanvideo.org/videoLibrary/assets/swf/CSPANPlayer.swf?pid=292148-10&#038;start=1322&#038;end=1417' base='http://www.c-spanvideo.org/videoLibrary/assets/swf/' allowScriptAccess='always' bgcolor='#ffffff' quality='high' allowFullScreen='true' type='application/x-shockwave-flash' pluginspage='http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer' flashvars='system=http://www.c-spanvideo.org/common/services/flashXml.php?programid=219791&#038;style=full&#038;start=1322&#038;end=1417' align='middle' height='500' width='410'></embed></object></p>
<p><strong>Invoking a birthday party game favorite of years past, Romney cuts through Obama&#8217;s long list of excuses and lays blame precisely where it belongs.</strong></p>
<p><object id='cspan-video-player' classid='clsid:d27cdb6eae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000' codebase='http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=9,0,0,0' align='middle' height='500' width='410'><param name='allowScriptAccess' value='true'/><param name='movie' value='http://www.c-spanvideo.org/videoLibrary/assets/swf/CSPANPlayer.swf?pid=292148-10&#038;start=1430&#038;end=1457'/><param name='quality' value='high'/><param name='bgcolor' value='#ffffff'/><param name='allowFullScreen' value='true'/><param name='flashvars' value='system=http://www.c-spanvideo.org/common/services/flashXml.php?programid=219791&#038;style=full&#038;start=1430&#038;end=1457'/><embed name='cspan-video-player' src='http://www.c-spanvideo.org/videoLibrary/assets/swf/CSPANPlayer.swf?pid=292148-10&#038;start=1430&#038;end=1457' base='http://www.c-spanvideo.org/videoLibrary/assets/swf/' allowScriptAccess='always' bgcolor='#ffffff' quality='high' allowFullScreen='true' type='application/x-shockwave-flash' pluginspage='http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer' flashvars='system=http://www.c-spanvideo.org/common/services/flashXml.php?programid=219791&#038;style=full&#038;start=1430&#038;end=1457' align='middle' height='500' width='410'></embed></object></p>
<p><strong>Now for the final morsel of meat, which I hope is the change we&#8217;re looking forward to in the 2010 and 2012 elections.</strong></p>
<p>(For the entire speech, visit <a href="http://www.c-spanarchives.org/program/292148-10""target=_blank">CSPAN</a>.) </p>
<p>It&#8217;s waaaay too early to tell but Hot Air has the latest PPP poll which shows Romney&#8217;s <a href="http://hotair.com/archives/2010/02/18/ppp-poll-romney-now-biggest-threat-to-obama-head-to-head/""target=_blank">slight edge</a> over Huckabee, Palin and Thune in a one-on-one matchup against Obama. I actually loathe the &#8220;Whose going to be the GOP&#8217;s 2012 candidate?&#8221; question this far away from the Presidential primaries but one thing we learned from Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton is that 2 years might be the new campaign standard. If that carries forward to 2012, make sure you have a DVR before then. You don&#8217;t want to be caught fast forward-less during campaign commercials! </p>
<p>Putting aside favorite Presidential hopefuls for now, I look forward to the day Mitt&#8217;s statement below rings true.</p>
<p><object id='cspan-video-player' classid='clsid:d27cdb6eae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000' codebase='http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=9,0,0,0' align='middle' height='500' width='410'><param name='allowScriptAccess' value='true'/><param name='movie' value='http://www.c-spanvideo.org/videoLibrary/assets/swf/CSPANPlayer.swf?pid=292148-10&#038;start=1700&#038;end=1709'/><param name='quality' value='high'/><param name='bgcolor' value='#ffffff'/><param name='allowFullScreen' value='true'/><param name='flashvars' value='system=http://www.c-spanvideo.org/common/services/flashXml.php?programid=219791&#038;style=full&#038;start=1700&#038;end=1709'/><embed name='cspan-video-player' src='http://www.c-spanvideo.org/videoLibrary/assets/swf/CSPANPlayer.swf?pid=292148-10&#038;start=1700&#038;end=1709' base='http://www.c-spanvideo.org/videoLibrary/assets/swf/' allowScriptAccess='always' bgcolor='#ffffff' quality='high' allowFullScreen='true' type='application/x-shockwave-flash' pluginspage='http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer' flashvars='system=http://www.c-spanvideo.org/common/services/flashXml.php?programid=219791&#038;style=full&#038;start=1700&#038;end=1709' align='middle' height='500' width='410'></embed></object></p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><strong>&#8216;Tis the day of the election<br />
And all through my town,<br />
I&#8217;m praying for a Senator,<br />
His name is Scott Brown!</strong></p>
<p>Today is the moment of truth. Today we find out if Massachusetts will send a second shot heard &#8217;round the world, or, at least, heard &#8217;round the nation. Millions of citizens have rallied, from local town hall meetings to Washington, DC. We&#8217;ve raised our voices, hoisted our homemade signs and thrown symbolic tea into our waterways, all while being called despicable, raunchy and crude names by the media lap dogs. However, despite the tricks and schemes of Pelosi, Reid, Obama, SEIU and closed-door compromises sans C-SPAN, current health care legislation hinges on this all-important vote: the Massachusetts Senate seat to replace the departed Ted Kennedy. </p>
<p><strong>Yesterday afternoon we went to a rally outside the TD Garden. We got to shake hands with Scott Brown, speak with him briefly and have our pictures taken.</strong> (It&#8217;s not the first time I&#8217;ve heard Scott Brown speak but it was the first time I shook his hand as I didn&#8217;t have a cold this time!) </p>
<p>A Bruins game was about to begin inside the TD Garden which meant crowds dressed in yellow and black were drifting by us. One man said, to no one in particular, &#8220;Hey, is that Brown over there?&#8221; to which I replied, &#8220;Yeah, he&#8217;s shaking hands with everyone. You should go over and say hello&#8221; and off he went. There were chants of &#8220;Go, Scott, Go!&#8221; and &#8220;41st Vote!&#8221; but what struck me the most was the amount of smiles on people&#8217;s faces. Look, I&#8217;ve lived in Massachusetts long enough to know that smiles outside TD Garden (and its myriad of former names) only occur after a Celtics or Bruins victory. Perhaps that is what was in the air: a prelude to victory. We could almost taste it.</p>

<p>After the rally, Brown left for North Attleboro and we headed for our relaxing day in the city. <strong>As we turned to walk away, a reporter from the New York Daily News asked if we could answer a few questions.</strong> I read through <a href="http://www.nydailynews.com/news/politics/2010/01/19/2010-01-19_dems_mass_anxiety_party_fights_to_keep_teds_seat_as_voters_head_to_polls_today_i.html""target=_blank">their account</a> of the Boston rally and we weren&#8217;t quoted. No surprises there as the article was pro-Coakley. The questions were what you&#8217;d expect:</p>
<p><strong>Q:</strong> Why does Scott Brown have your support?<br />
<strong>A:</strong> He has promised to be the 41st vote against the current health care reform bill.</p>
<p><strong>Q:</strong> What do you think about a Republican winning Ted Kennedy&#8217;s seat?<br />
<strong>A:</strong> It&#8217;s not Ted Kennedy&#8217;s seat. That&#8217;s not just a line, either. It&#8217;s the truth. This being the people&#8217;s seat has resonated with the state. Once they heard Scott Brown articulate that in the final debate, people began to say, &#8220;Yeah, that&#8217;s right! It&#8217;s <em>our</em> seat!&#8221;</p>
<p><strong>Q:</strong> How do you feel about his chances?<br />
<strong>A:</strong> We&#8217;re optimistic. The polls look good and he&#8217;s drawing large crowds.</p>
<p><strong>Q:</strong> Why do you think Coakley is trailing?<br />
<strong>A:</strong> For one, she took the Democrat vote for granted. She didn&#8217;t think she needed to work for it. Also, in the same vein, as you are probably aware, the majority of Massachusetts voters do not align with either major party. Independents like to be courted and they haven&#8217;t been courted by Coakley. Scott Brown has made a concerted effort to woo Independents over to his side.</p>
<p><strong>Q:</strong> Do you think the people of Massachusetts will turn out for Coakley, though, because they want to do it for Obama, especially since he came to town yesterday?<br />
<strong>A:</strong> No. (My husband and I were laughing as we said No and the reporter started chuckling as well.) </p>
<p><strong>To many who are skeptical about Scott Brown and his conservative credentials, let me keep it simple for you. Our current struggle is to avoid government-run health care.</strong> As you can see from my prior entries, the health care debate is what started this blog and is the thread that runs through my posts. I am determined to do what I can to keep the current health care bill from passing. <strong>I&#8217;ve e-mailed my Senators and Congressmen but this is the one thing, as a resident of Massachusetts, that will actually get attention. I am voting for Scott Brown for the very reason I listed above: He has promised to vote against the current disastrous health care bill.</strong></p>
<p><strong>To those who think Scott Brown is the prototype for 2010 elections, quit wasting your ink.</strong> He is the best candidate for Massachusetts. He may not be the best candidate for the other 49 (or is it 56?) states. If I were back in my native South Carolina, I would want a fiscal <strong>and</strong> social conservative, like Jim DeMint. Jim DeMint is a fantastic Senator. He has served South Carolina well and continues to spearhead efforts to reduce the size of our federal government. As great as I think he is, he would likely have a difficult time winning a Republican <em>primary</em> in a New England state. <strong>This is the beauty of state elections. Each state gets to choose the candidate that best fits <em>their</em> needs, <em>their</em> values and <em>their</em> priorities.</strong></p>
<p><strong> Massachusetts, this Brown&#8217;s for you!</strong> Cast your vote for Scott Brown to send a message to Washington that even the most stubborn amongst them would be hard-pressed to ignore. <strong>What&#8217;s at stake is immeasurable: our freedom to choose our doctor, make our own decisions about treatment and the inalienable right to pursue life.</strong> </p>
<p>That&#8217;s why, for this state senatorial election, I join in unison with fellow Scott Brown supporters to say:<br />
<strong>Go, Scott, Go!<br />
Go, Scott, Go!<br />
Go, Scott, Go!</strong></p>
<p><strong>UPDATE I:</strong> Follow Hot Air&#8217;s ongoing election coverage <a href="http://hotair.com/archives/2010/01/19/open-thread-on-ma-election-big-turnout-seen-despite-weather/""target=_blank">here</a> and tune in to local radio (www.wrko.com or www.wtkk.com) for anecdotal coverage from local callers.</p>
<p><strong>UPDATE II:</strong> Join us on <a href="http://hotair.com/archives/2010/01/19/open-thread-massachusetts/""target=_blank">Hot Air</a> with the open thread for the election results! </p>
<p><strong>UPDATE III: <a href="http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/us_massachusetts_senate""target=_blank">Scott Brown wins!</a> Scott Brown is now the Senator-elect of Massachusetts! We&#8217;ll send him to DC with a big red bow on his GM truck. It&#8217;s rather fitting, then, that tomorrow is President Obama&#8217;s 1st year anniversary as president. Our gift to him is, of course, Scott Brown. To reflect a sentiment familiar with the First Lady, for the first time in my adult life, I am proud to be a Massachusetts resident.</strong></p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The current health care debate has something in common with basketball. Let me explain.</p>
<p>You should know I like to watch basketball. No, not the NBA. I truly loathe watching the NBA. I prefer men&#8217;s NCAA basketball. It&#8217;s technical, fast-paced and those guys play for their schools, not their pockets, yet.</p>
<p>I was watching one of my favorite teams last week and one of their stars accidentally tipped a rebound into the other team&#8217;s basket. They were up by almost 20 points at the time so it was treated like no big deal. Even I said something like, &#8220;Oops! That&#8217;s not supposed to happen!&#8221; laughing as I wondered how I had escaped high school not doing something like that. (My coach called me &#8220;Butter fingers&#8221; by the way.)</p>
<p>The game goes on and the other team begins to catch up by playing solid defense and hitting 3s. Before you know it, they take the lead. As the final minutes begin to tick there are several lead changes. If you&#8217;ve ever watched a close game, you know how much can change in &#8220;a basketball minute.&#8221; </p>
<p><strong>My team ended up losing by 2 points. 2 points!</strong> Yes, those pesky 2 points that were unearned when my guy, the center, tipped the ball into the other team&#8217;s basket. It was no sweat when they were up 20 points. But when they lose by 2 points you don&#8217;t think about points missed at the free throw line, off-balanced jump shots or lazy fouls. No, you think about those 2 points that were put in the <strong>other team&#8217;s net</strong> by your team&#8217;s big guy. He might as well handed over those 2 points on a silver platter. </p>
<p>The GOP is acting like the basketball center on this health care debate. Whether they play defense or offense, it doesn&#8217;t matter. The Democrats have a majority and can do whatever they want, as long as they stick together and find consensus. Does America like a one-party system? We&#8217;ll know for sure in 2010. </p>
<p>Until then, the GOP needs to make sure they don&#8217;t accidentally tip health care in the Democrat&#8217;s favor to take it over by passing amendments that make the bill more tolerable by the likes of Olympia Snowe, Susan Collins, Joe Lieberman or Ben Nelson (see Ed Morrissey&#8217;s <a href="http://hotair.com/archives/2009/12/07/susan-collins-a-no-on-public-option/""target=_blank">article</a> on HotAir). They already did this in the House with the amendment to keep abortion from being funded by federal dollars, forgetting the long range view that the amendment doesn&#8217;t have to be adopted during Conference and likely will not. The same goes for these Senate amendments. (Follow Erick Erickson as he monitors the GOP&#8217;s attempt to <a href="http://redstate.com/index.php?tag=health-care""target=_blank">fix the bill</a> on Red State.) </p>
<p>A spoonful of sugar may help the medicine go down, but they&#8217;ll spit that sugar out in conference and we&#8217;ll all be stuck with government-run health care, which is not really health care at all.</p>
<p>GOP, you need to focus, or you&#8217;ll end up looking like this:</p>
<p><object width="480" height="400" classid="clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000" id="ordie_player_52f32fc8eb"><param name="movie" value="http://player.ordienetworks.com/flash/fodplayer.swf" /><param name="flashvars" value="key=52f32fc8eb" /><param name="allowfullscreen" value="true" /><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed width="480" height="400" flashvars="key=52f32fc8eb" allowfullscreen="true" allowscriptaccess="always" quality="high" src="http://player.ordienetworks.com/flash/fodplayer.swf" name="ordie_player_52f32fc8eb" type="application/x-shockwave-flash"></embed></object>
<div style="text-align:left;font-size:x-small;margin-top:0;width:480px;"><a href="http://www.funnyordie.com/videos/52f32fc8eb/wrong-basket-from-mr-sports" title="from Mr. Sports">Wrong Basket</a> &#8211; watch more <a href="http://www.funnyordie.com/" title="on Funny or Die">funny videos</a></div>
<p>P.S. Since I don&#8217;t like the NBA, I thought this was the perfect clip. Wish I could have found something of better quality but the replay is nice. There was no way I was going to show you a clip of my team&#8217;s center. I like him and don&#8217;t want to embarrass him. But take note. If you&#8217;re a Senator and you aren&#8217;t listening to the American people and you pass this behemoth of a take over health care bill, we will all know who you are. You will need to look for new work when your term is up for reelection, be it 2010, 2012 or 2014. We will not forget!</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Obama has gone to great lengths to demonstrate his lack of basic medical knowledge. For instance, if your cardiologist recommends a pacemaker, Obama says you might need to take a pain pill instead. </p>
<p>Wow, I didn’t realize taking Tylenol aided in regulating one’s heartbeat! Is there anything Tylenol <em>can’t</em> do? Do Advil, Ibuprofen and their generic brand counterparts <em>also</em> correct irregular heartbeats? If so, they really should update their labels! <em>New commercials, stat!</em></p>
<p><strong>Perhaps it is unfair of me to use my biology degree and basic understanding of physiology against Dr. Obama, er, I mean <em>President</em> Obama. </strong>Then again, he has a Surgeon General and an entire Health and Human Services agency who I am sure would be happy to clue him in on matters of cardiology, or at least refer him to someone who does (that is, if they&#8217;re &#8220;into&#8221; referrals). </p>
<p>At the very least, he could do a quick search of “pacemaker” on WebMD or some other medical website to easily ascertain that pain relievers are only necessary during post-op following the insertion of a pacemaker not for the actual function of regulating a heartbeat. Yes, my doctor friends abhor medical websites, but Obama could at least consult one to figure out the difference between pain killers and major medical procedures. </p>
<p><strong>Obama likes to equate himself to Abraham Lincoln. Perhaps he should acquaint himself with Lincoln’s famous quip in paraphrasing Proverbs 17:28, “Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt.” </strong>Obama should heed this sound counsel, most especially when discussing matters he knows absolutely nothing about, like <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U-dQfb8WQvo&#038;feature=related""target=_blank">pacemakers</a>, <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZhNeGYYPgIE""target=_blank">tonsillectomies</a> and <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SG56B2et4M8""target=_blank">amputations</a>. (All three videos are below.)</p>
<p>Perhaps Obama refuses to understand basic cardiology since cardiologists are … <em>wait for it</em> … <strong>specialists!</strong> What’s so terrible about specialists? According to Obama, specialists are the arch-enemy of the general practitioner. </p>
<p><strong>Silly me. I thought GPs worked <em>with</em> specialists, offering referrals so patients could receive expert help for specific medical conditions that are well past the &#8220;preventative treatment&#8221; phase</strong>. Let&#8217;s say a GP discovered preliminary symptoms related to heart disease during a routine office visit. He or she may refer a patient to a (gasp!) cardiologist for specific heart health care. The cardiologist, upon further examination of the patient, orders a stress test and, as a result, performs angioplasty. Are we to expect GPs to begin performing angioplasties? Imagine your primary care physician&#8217;s waiting room then! </p>
<p>Darn those young medical students, buried in heaps of student loan debt, who apparently hold their noses up to the common folk by furthering their education and completing multi-year residencies concentrating on specific medical conditions that require specific medical expertise. Darn them all for inserting pacemakers to people who would apparently be just fine with a pain killer. Darn them all for causing angioplasties to occur in hospital operating rooms rather than in Exam Room #4.</p>
<p><strong>Obama, put away your toy stethoscope and end the silly <a href="http://www.realclearpolitics.com/video/2009/10/05/obama_doctors_understand_importance_of_health_care_reform.html""target=_blank">photo-ops</a>.</strong> Doctors don’t wear white coats outside the office, unless of course, <a href="http://www.nypost.com/p/news/politics/obama_health_care_photo_op_KOV0zdZCzeTSczGWcTVsyK""target=_blank">you supply them</a>. </p>
<p>Americans are not idiots. We are not so easily fooled. We are tired of the shenanigans and we are growing weary of your incompetence. The American people elected a Commander-in-Chief not a Doctor-in-Chief. Why don&#8217;t you concentrate on the war in Afghanistan and let doctors stick to medicine.</p>
<p><strong><em>Paging real doctors! Paging real doctors!</em></strong> Oh, here&#8217;s one. <a href="http://hotair.com/archives/2009/10/06/the-white-house-department-of-white-coats/""target=_blank">HotAir</a> has a piece on a doctor who refused to attend the photo-op at the White House. Good for him. He speaks out about the invitation to &#8220;discuss&#8221; current health care proposals. I suppose by &#8220;discuss&#8221; Obama really means, &#8220;I talk, you listen&#8221; because there wasn&#8217;t a lot of &#8220;discussing&#8221; going on, merely an empty speech accompanied by a few props clad in white coats. If only Nurse Ratched had made an appearance.</p>

<p><strong>For those of you who don&#8217;t remember what Obama said about pacemakers, tonsillectomies and amputations, here&#8217;s a trip down memory lane.</strong></p>

		<description><![CDATA[Is Nancy Pelosi inciting people by equating them to Nazis and then calling them un-American? Before you answer that question, you have to ask another: Inciting them to what? Inciting them to anger? Yes. Inciting them to violence? No. The American people can handle your slander, Nancy Pelosi. They can handle your lies. They can even handle the "deer in the headlights" look on your face from all the botox. They do see what you are doing, though, and that is an attempt to distract from your poor record in the House, from your hyper-partisan antics, your disdain for the American people and your inability to hold accountable people like Charlie Rangel. You're third in line to the Presidency <em>but</em> you are hardly capable of running a country when you can't keep your own House in order. As a nation, we expect more from our leaders. Step it up, Speaker Pelosi, or step down.]]></description>
			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), Speaker of the House, trying as hard as she may, was unable to squeak out a tear from her eyes when referencing the violence in San Francisco in the late 1970s to convey her fears about violent rhetoric being used in today&#8217;s political theater (assuming there is, which there isn&#8217;t). Sure, you could go for the easy target and say her inability to produce tears was from the amount of botox she&#8217;s had injected (<em>Clostridium botulinum tearus interuptus</em>) but I have a few other theories.</p>
<p><u><strong>Theory #1</u>: She takes the low road and equates all criticism to violent rhetoric.</strong></p>
<p><u><strong>Theory #2</u>: She needs you to think criticisms of her inability to lead or build consensus are waged solely by discredited crazy people.</strong></p>
<p><strong><u>Theory #3</u>: Choking up worked for Hillary Clinton in New Hampshire.</strong></p>
<p>Let&#8217;s take a look at what she said:</p>
<blockquote><p>&#8220;I have concerns about some of the language that is being used because I saw &#8212; I saw this myself in the late &#8217;70s in San Francisco, this kind of &#8212; of rhetoric was very frightening and it gave &#8212; it created a climate in which we &#8212; violence took place.</p>
<p>And so I wish that we would all, again, curb our enthusiasm in some of the statements that are made, understanding that &#8212; that some of the people &#8212; the ears it is falling on are not as balanced as the person making the statement might assume.</p>
<p>But, again, our country is great because people can say what they think and they believe, but I also think that they have to take responsibility for any incitement that they may cause.&#8221;</p>
</blockquote>
<p><strong>Let&#8217;s look at that final section a little closer:</strong><br />
&#8220;Our country is great because people can say what they think and they believe&#8230;&#8221; Yes, Nancy, I agree with you wholeheartedly.</p>
<p><strong>Ah, but then there&#8217;s the but. A big but.</strong><br />
&#8220;&#8230; but I also think&#8230;&#8221;</p>
<p>Try explaining &#8220;but&#8221; to a young person. It&#8217;s a fun exercise. I remember my nephew remarking to my niece about her Mario Kart skills on the Nintendo Wii last Christmas, &#8220;You&#8217;re a good driver, but you run in to everything.&#8221; My husband explained to him that when you use the word &#8220;but&#8221; it negates everything you&#8217;ve said before it. He asked, &#8220;What does &#8216;negate&#8217; mean?&#8221; &#8220;Cancels out.&#8221; &#8220;Oh!&#8221; He then proceeded to put to use what he learned &#8230; <em>all night</em>. &#8220;That&#8217;s a cool character <em>but</em> he sure is ugly.&#8221; &#8220;That&#8217;s a fast car <em>but</em> not as fast as mine!&#8221; &#8220;You&#8217;re funny <em>but</em> your jokes are pretty lame.&#8221; We told him it didn&#8217;t always have to be a negative thing. Then he said, &#8220;I don&#8217;t like vegetables <em>but</em> this is good broccoli!&#8221; (Disclaimer: He does like vegetables.) He said he&#8217;d never look at the word &#8220;but&#8221; the same again. It was a proud moment for me &#8212; so long as he uses it to understand English grammar and not for put downs with his classmates, teammates or sisters! I&#8217;m afraid my ten year old nephew knows more about sentence structure than Nancy Pelosi <strong><em>but</em></strong> she is a politician and politicians love to use the word &#8220;but&#8221; to reroute their message towards what they really think.</p>
<p><strong>So what does Nancy Pelosi really think?</strong><br />
&#8220;&#8230; but I also think that they have to take responsibility for any incitement that they may cause.&#8221;</p>
<p>I remember when attendees to the health care town hall meetings became even more frustrated. It was shortly after August 5, 2009, when Nancy Pelosi was asked if she thought town hall meetings consisted of a genuine grassroots opposition. Not only did she say they were astroturf, she said they were <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CGzAi4vZqYI""target=_blank">carrying swastikas and symbols like that</a>. Excuse me? Town halls were flooded by local constituents wearing swastikas? Really? Where are those pictures? That&#8217;s quite a charge. I&#8217;d like to see proof of town hall meetings where people are carrying swastikas and symbols like that. I&#8217;d like to see the people around them tolerating it. The <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lyndon_LaRouche""target=_blank">LaRouche people</a> are known for adding Hitler&#8217;s mustache to U.S. Presidents, including President Obama. I don&#8217;t remember Speaker Pelosi&#8217;s concern when LaRouche had pictures of President Bush as Hitler. As a US citizen, I don&#8217;t want any US President, current or former, being depicted as Hitler. I&#8217;m consistent like that. No, those aren&#8217;t &#8220;public option&#8221; opponents, Nancy. You might know that if the New York Times did a little <strong><em>investigative journalism</em></strong>. Heck, access to Wikipedia can take you pretty far. A phone call to their offices would seal the deal. Perhaps you&#8217;re just in denial that the founder of LaRouche ran for President 8 times: once with the Labor Party and 7 times with the Democratic Party.</p>
<p>A mere two days after she accused health care opponents of carrying swastikas, she penned an op-ed with House Majority Leader, Stenny Hoyer, where she called health care protesters un-American. In an earlier post entitled &#8220;Health Care: The Fight&#8217;s Not Over&#8221; I said: </p>
<blockquote><p> Why do Nancy Pelosi and Steny Hoyer call opponents of the current Health Care bill <a href="http://blogs.usatoday.com/oped/2009/08/unamerican-attacks-cant-derail-health-care-debate-.html""target=_blank">“un-American”</a> when Pelosi told the anti-war protesters of Code Pink who interrupted one of her meetings in 2006 that “there is nothing more articulate, more eloquent, to a member of Congress than the voice of his or her constituent.” She goes on to say she likes dissenters. Listen to it <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F2j6U0SCyxI""target=_blank>here</a>. Did Nancy Pelosi and Steny Hoyer think they could quiet the American people by referring to us as un-American? If their goal was to douse the enthusiasm against the bill or to assuage the doubts we the people have towards our government’s ability to run anything well, it’s obvious they have only managed to add fuel to the fire.</p></blockquote>
<p><strong>Is Nancy Pelosi inciting people by equating them to Nazis and then calling them un-American? Before you answer that question, you have to ask another: Inciting them to what? Inciting them to anger? Yes. Inciting them to violence? No.</strong> The American people can handle your slander, Nancy Pelosi. They can handle your lies. They can even handle the &#8220;deer in the headlights&#8221; look on your face from all the botox. They do see what you are doing, though, and that is an attempt to distract from your poor record in the House, from your hyper-partisan antics, your disdain for the American people and your inability to hold accountable people like Charlie Rangel. You&#8217;re third in line to the Presidency <em>but</em> you are hardly capable of running a country when you can&#8217;t keep your own House in order.</p>
<p><strong>Now let&#8217;s watch her delivery (no actual tears):</strong></p>
<p><object width="560" height="340"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/u46QoT_eNQ8&#038;hl=en&#038;fs=1&#038;rel=0"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/u46QoT_eNQ8&#038;hl=en&#038;fs=1&#038;rel=0" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="560" height="340"></embed></object></p>
<p><strong>Would Pelosi have fared better if she had taken a cue from Hillary Clinton and let her voice waver a little longer?</strong></p>
<p><object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/6qgWH89qWks&#038;hl=en&#038;fs=1&#038;rel=0\"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/6qgWH89qWks&#038;hl=en&#038;fs=1&#038;rel=0" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object></p>
<p><strong>Pete Sessions (R-TX) cuts to the chase when responding to Nancy Pelosi: </strong> <em>(bold emphasis, mine)</em></p>
<blockquote><p> &#8220;Speaker Pelosi is right that the American people are upset, but it is her own words that continue to fuel voter frustration in America,&#8221; said Sessions, R-Texas. &#8220;<strong>No longer content with criticizing concerned citizens for being &#8216;un-American,&#8217; the Speaker is now likening genuine opposition to assassination. Such insulting rhetoric not only undermines the credibility of her office, but it underscores the desperate attempt by her party to divert attention away from a failing agenda.</strong> During one of the most important policy debates of our time, the American people have been completely abandoned by those elected representatives under her control. <strong>Voters are justifiably frustrated with Washington, and the Speaker&#8217;s verbal assault on voters accomplishes nothing other than furthering her reputation for being wildly out of touch with the American people.</strong>&#8220;</p>
</blockquote>
<p><strong>Nancy Pelosi should concentrate on bringing more decorum to the House of Representatives by:</p>
<ul>
- not accusing everyday Americans of carrying Nazi symbols,<br />
- not calling government-run health care opponents un-American and<br />
- not equating valid concerns within the health care debate as inciting violence.
</ul>
<p></strong><br />
<strong>As a nation, we expect more from our leaders. Step it up, Speaker Pelosi, or step down.</strong></p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Former President Jimmy Carter has found a way to interject himself in the day&#8217;s headlines yet again. This time, he&#8217;s trying to change the health care debate to accusations of racism. Now, why would the former peanut farmer go and do something stupid like that?</p>
<p><strong>You see, Jimmy Carter isn&#8217;t making headlines anymore by showing up for photo ops with the most recent Habitat for Humanity house.</strong> (Before you get all up in arms, please know I worked with Habitat for Humanity while in college. He should stick to that.)<br />
<img src="http://theladypatriot.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/09/Jimmy-Carter-HFH-21-300x199.jpg" alt="Jimmy Carter HFH 2" title="Jimmy Carter HFH 2" width="300" height="199" class="aligncenter size-medium wp-image-363" /></p>
<p><strong>Jimmy Carter hasn&#8217;t penned a new book on Israel &#8216;Apartheid&#8217;.</strong> (The New York Times didn&#8217;t give it a rave <a href="http://www.nytimes.com/2007/01/07/books/review/Bronner.t.html""target=_blank">review</a> but Osama Bin Laden seemed to <a href="http://www.moonbattery.com/archives/2009/09/osama_bin_laden.html""target=_blank">endorse it</a>. Ed Morrissey has a great <a href="http://hotair.com/archives/2009/09/16/a-brief-thought-about-jimmy-carter/""target=_blank">follow-up question</a> at HotAir.) </p>
<p><strong>Jimmy Carter isn&#8217;t sharing a Presidential photo-op in the Oval Office and probably won&#8217;t for the next several years and this might be his way of begging for an invite.</strong><br />
<img src="http://theladypatriot.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/09/Former-Presidents-1-20-091.jpg" alt="Former Presidents 1-20-09" title="Former Presidents 1-20-09" width="275" height="183" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-364" /></p>
<p><strong>No, Jimmy Carter, who makes us remember words like <em>malaise</em>, craves relevancy</strong>. I imagine many former Presidents, who never enjoyed a life outside politics, clamor for ways to enjoy the limelight of mindless followers. Maybe the desperation to be heard becomes unbearable when everyone recognizes you&#8217;re a windbag and doesn&#8217;t seek your advice or counsel like they used to.</p>
<p>Just like Obama&#8217;s health care speech to the joint sessions of Congress on Wednesday, Carter&#8217;s &#8220;malaise speech&#8221; of 1979 resulted in a <u>temporary bump</u> in the ratings. However, the ratings didn&#8217;t stick. As PBS <a href="http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/amex/carter/peopleevents/e_malaise.html""target=_blank">accounts</a>:</p>
<blockquote><p>Perhaps appreciating the president&#8217;s astonishing frankness, the public rewarded him with higher approval ratings in the days that followed. But then, as historian Douglas Brinkley notes, &#8220;<strong>it boomeranged on him</strong>. The op-ed pieces started spinning out, &#8216;Why don&#8217;t you fix something? There&#8217;s nothing wrong with the American people. We&#8217;re a great people. Maybe the problem&#8217;s in the White House, maybe we need new leadership to guide us.&#8217;&#8221; </p></blockquote>
<p>President Obama has just experienced his first boomerang reaction on one of his largest agenda items: government health care. According to <a href="http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politics/current_events/healthcare/september_2009/health_care_reform""target=_blank">Scott Rasmussen</a>, prior to his speech Wednesday night, Obama&#8217;s health care plan had an approval rating of 44%. After the speech, it climbed to its highest peak of 51%. Then &#8230; <em>boomerang</em> &#8230; it&#8217;s down to 42%.</p>
<p>In order to combat these ratings, the House voted to censure Joe Wilson for blurting out, &#8220;You Lie!&#8221; during Obama&#8217;s speech Wednesday when he was caught, er, lying. (See my earlier post &#8220;<a href="http://theladypatriot.com/2009/09/10/joe-wilson/""target=_blank">A South Carolinian&#8217;s Response to Joe Wilson</a>&#8221; for more on the subject.) </p>
<p>Just in case that ridiculous side show wasn&#8217;t enough to convince Americans that those in opposition to the current health care proposals have such little decorum when speaking up about their desire to (gasp!) live longer (if only we&#8217;d go silently), Jimmy Carter decides he&#8217;d like to enter the ring with the most <a href="http://www.cnn.com/2009/POLITICS/09/15/carter.obama/index.html?iref=newssearch""target=_blank">incendiary remarks</a>:<br />
1) He says those opposed to Obama&#8217;s health care plan are racist.<br />
2) He says people from the South are racist.<br />
3) He says people all around the country are racist.<br />
4) In short, everyone who disagrees with President Obama is racist.</p>
<blockquote><p>&#8220;I think an overwhelming portion of the intensely demonstrated animosity toward President Barack Obama is based on the fact that he is a black man, that he&#8217;s African-American,&#8221; Carter told &#8220;NBC Nightly News.&#8221; &#8220;I live in the South, and I&#8217;ve seen the South come a long way, and I&#8217;ve seen the rest of the country that shares the South&#8217;s attitude toward minority groups at that time, particularly African-Americans.&#8221;</p>
<p>&#8220;That racism inclination still exists, and I think it&#8217;s bubbled up to the surface because of belief among many white people &#8212; not just in the South but around the country &#8212; that African-Americans are not qualified to lead this great country. It&#8217;s an abominable circumstance, and it grieves me and concerns me very deeply,&#8221; Carter said.</p>
<p>Michael Steele, who is the first African-American to chair the Republican National Committee, denied Wednesday that race is fueling protests. &#8220;President Carter is flat-out wrong,&#8221; Steele said in a statement. &#8220;This isn&#8217;t about race. It is about policy.&#8221; </p></blockquote>
<p>Jimmy Carter has just called our nation racist. </p>
<ul>You dissent? <em>You&#8217;re a racist!</em><br />
You want to live longer by receiving medical treatment even after the age of 65? <em>You&#8217;re a racist!</em><br />
You&#8217;re concerned that after George W. Bush increased the deficit in 8 years that Obama has tripled it in a mere 8 months? <em>You&#8217;re a racist!</em><br />
You want your health care to be determined by your doctor? <em>You&#8217;re a racist!</em><br />
You gathered with fellow citizens in local towns throughout the country and in DC to express your outrage over DC corruption and massive spending? <em>You&#8217;re a racist!</em></ul>
<p>You think <strong><em>all</em></strong> life is precious, you&#8217;d defend anyone&#8217;s right to life or liberty, you vote for politicians not because of their skin color but because of their principles, you show no preference for one ethnicity over another &#8230; but if you oppose government health care, <em>you&#8217;re a racist? </em> Yeah, that&#8217;s certainly logical. <em>Umm, no.</em></p>
<p><strong>No, Jimmy. No, Obama. Americans are not racist because they disagree with you on policy</strong>. In fact, we see through racist claims for what they are &#8211; a final grasp to claim victory of an argument you are not winning. It&#8217;s like a 2nd grader who is thrown out at 2nd base during a casual game of kickball. He knows he&#8217;s lost the argument so he says, &#8220;You&#8217;re stupid!&#8221; He&#8217;s still out. But now he&#8217;s shown more of his character: a 2nd grade, prepubescent, immature, unsportsmanlike, temper-tantrum inability to play by the rules and suffer the consequences of not running fast enough.</p>
<p>I perked up watching Charles Krauthammer&#8217;s take on the racism charges last night on Special Report with Bret Baier. National Review has the <a href="http://corner.nationalreview.com/post/?q=YjgxNjBiMWE0MmRhOGU3ZDEzZDI2ZTk1YjM5NzY3YzA=""target=_blank">transcript</a>. Here it is in part, and as usual, I nod my head in total agreement.</p>
<blockquote><p>You know, the accusation of racism is a sign of desperation by people who know they are losing the national debate, and they want to hurl the ultimate charge in American politics.</p>
<p>This is dealing from the bottom of the deck, and I agree that it is a disgusting tactic. It&#8217;s done as a way to end debate. The minute you call somebody a racist, the debate is over. You don&#8217;t continue.</p>
<p><strong>Accusations of racism are the last refuge of the liberal scoundrel.</strong></p>
<p>(As for Maureen Dowd, <a href="http://www.nytimes.com/2009/09/13/opinion/13dowd.html?_r=1""target=_blank">imagining a word</a> [“boy”] that wasn&#8217;t said): Well, in my previous profession, I saw a lot of people who heard words that weren&#8217;t said. They were called patients. Many of them were actually helped with medication.</p>
<p>The reason she won&#8217;t be — and others who are hurling the [racism] accusation — is because it is a deliberate attempt to change the subject and discredit the opposition with an unprovable — and unproven — ad hominem.</p></blockquote>
<p><strong>That, dear Jimmy, and for that matter, Maureen Dowd, is why no one is listening to you. They might <em>hear</em> you, but they aren&#8217;t listening. There is a difference.</strong></p>
<p><strong><u>UPDATE:</u></strong> <a href="http://blogs.abcnews.com/politicalpunch/2009/09/wh-president-obama-disagrees-with-former-president-carter-that-most-animosity-towards-obama-is-raceb.html""target=_blank">According to Jake Tapper</a> of ABC News, Press Secretary Robert Gibbs says President Obama does not agree with Jimmy Carter that opposition is rooted in racism. Obama could put these ridiculous racism charges to rest by giving a speech on how ridiculous it is. You have to wonder why he isn&#8217;t. It&#8217;s not as if he has an aversion to TV cameras.</p>

		<description><![CDATA[Yes, we South Carolinians may stick our foot in our mouth every once in awhile but I'd rather do that than sit idly by with all the decorum in the world while our health care system is turned to mush. Not on my watch. No way, no how, no sir.]]></description>
			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>On 09/09/09 (or &#8220;oh-whine-oh-whine-oh-whine&#8221;), Barack Obama gave yet another televised speech on health care. Interesting timing. The House has been working on health care bills in its various committees for quite some time now. I&#8217;ve read HR 3200 and watched C-SPAN for two days as amendments were proposed, voted on, passed and rejected. These Senators and Representatives then went home for the August recess where some hosted town hall meetings, several phoned it in with teleconferences, <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-L3FnWNkIzU" target="_blank&quot;">one tried to do both</a>, though not without rebuke, and others <a href="http://www.realclearpolitics.com/video/2009/09/03/dem_rep_im_not_doing_town_hall_meetings_im_not_going_to_give_those_people_a_forum.html" target="_blank&quot;">hid from their constituents</a>. </p>
<p>Despite the fact that bills have been written, amendments have been voted on and alternative bills have been penned by Republicans (though not acknowledged they exist by Democrats), <strong>Obama now says he wants to have this speech so he can talk about what he wants in a plan. That&#8217;s a little late, is it not?</strong> Could it possibly be an effort to increase his ratings or those of the health care proposals?</p>
<p><strong>Here we have a President who is a day late and a dollar short (well, at least a trillion dollars short). He has been talking for weeks about &#8220;his health care plan&#8221; but the truth of the matter is, <em>he doesn&#8217;t have a health care plan</em>. </strong>Three House committees have a plan. The Senate is working on a plan behind closed doors. There is talk about a trigger that sets government-run health care in motion but Barack Obama does not have a health care plan. That&#8217;s why he wasn&#8217;t referring to one in his speech. Notice that?</p>
<p><strong>Nothing Obama says has found its way to a written bill.</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>He is lying when he says people who like their current health care plan can keep it.</li>
<li>He is lying when he says he will not sign it if it adds one dime to our national deficit. (How quickly he forgets the CBO.)</li>
<li>He is lying when he says the uninsured total 47 million. Oh, wait. Tonight, he changed that to 30 million. It&#8217;s a step in the right direction but he&#8217;s still over by about 16 million.</li>
<li>He is lying when he said Medicare will not be cut.</li>
</ul>
<p><strong><em>You don&#8217;t want to take my word for it? Even the Obama-drooling Associated Press covered Obama&#8217;s non-truths by calling them oversimplifications and omissions.</em></strong> For a list of Obama&#8217;s words versus the facts, check out <a href="http://gatewaypundit.blogspot.com/2009/09/stunner-ap-fact-checks-liar-in-chief.html""target=_blank">Gateway Pundit&#8217;s page</a>. (I send you there because the AP might doctor their post later.)</p>
<p>Sarah Palin has already <a href="http://www.facebook.com/note.php?note_id=131081638434" target="_blank&quot;">weighed in on her Facebook Page</a>:</p>
<blockquote><p>Our objections to the Democrats’ health care proposals are not mere “bickering” or “games.” They are not an attempt to “score short term political points.” And it’s hard to listen to the President lecture us not to use “scare tactics” when in the next breath he says that “more will die” if his proposals do not pass.</p>
<p>In his speech the President directly responded to concerns I’ve raised about unelected bureaucrats being given power to make decisions affecting life or death health care matters. He called these concerns “bogus,” “irresponsible,” and “a lie” &#8212; so much for civility. After all the name-calling, though, what he did not do is respond to the arguments we’ve made, arguments even some of his own supporters have agreed have merit.</p></blockquote>
<p><strong>I know he&#8217;s lying. The AP knows he&#8217;s lying. Joe Wilson knows he&#8217;s lying.</strong> Joe Wilson (R-SC) called Obama out on it. Here is Joe in his own words, err, word.</p>
<p><object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/APYh5Z8xmBw&#038;hl=en&#038;fs=1&#038;rel=0"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/APYh5Z8xmBw&#038;hl=en&#038;fs=1&#038;rel=0" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object></p>
<p>Some have said Representative Joe Wilson betrayed the decorum that the congressional chamber requires. You could say the same of Obama who said he was coming after those who distorted &#8220;the plan&#8221; although as President, he does have the floor. You could say Nancy Pelosi betrayed the decorum of her position as Speaker of the House by saying those attending town halls were wearing swastikas (they weren&#8217;t). You could say Nancy Pelosi and Steny Hoyer (House Majority Leader) betrayed the decorum of their positions by calling government-run health care protesters un-American. You could say this Administration betrays the decorum of its role when asking the American people to forward emails and conversations that seem &#8220;fishy&#8221; to flag@whitehouse.gov.</p>
<p>I watched the video again. There were resounding boos coming from the Republicans and I thought there would be more boos. Perhaps Joe Wilson thought there would be, too, placing his &#8220;Lie!&#8221; in harmony with the booing. Was it the right time and place? Probably not. At this point in Obama&#8217;s takeover Presidency, do I care? Absolutely not.</p>
<p>You tell me. Do you prefer the guy who tells it the way he wants you to see it or the guy who tells it the way it is? You may not like his approach, but I refuse to tell the man to apologize. <a href="http://www.politico.com/blogs/bensmith/0909/Graham_blames_Obama_then_Wilson_for_partisan_strife.html""target=_blank">Lindsey Graham</a>, <a href="http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/09/09/john-mccain-joe-wilson-ye_n_281532.html""target=_blank">John McCain</a> and <a href="http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2009/09/09/first-on-the-ticker-gop-heckler-blasted-by-2010-challenger/""target=_blank">Carol Fowler</a> (yes, the <a href="http://bit.ly/77dax" target="_blank&quot;">ridiculous</a> Carol Fowler) can all take a hike. I&#8217;m originally from South Carolina. We like to spar but more than that, when we see an injustice, we speak out and intervene. I&#8217;ll never forget my first week working in Massachusetts. A man in line at Dunkin&#8217; Donuts asked his son what kind of doughnut he wanted. The son replied, &#8220;Ummm&#8221; at which point the man turned to his son and reamed him out in front of everyone, including the son&#8217;s friend, because the young boy needed more than 1 second to choose a doughnut. This man was yelling and out of control. How can the boy make a decision with a dad that is embarrassingly raking him over the coals? I stepped in and asked the man to lower his voice. He turned to me and said, &#8220;It&#8217;s none of your business.&#8221; I responded in my Dixie Carter/Julia Sugarbaker pronounce-the-fool-out-of-words-when-angry accent, &#8220;Sir, the volume of your voice has made it everyone&#8217;s business. I suggest you treat your son with a little more dignity. You <em>are</em> in in a public venue.&#8221; People started clapping. I was proud. Then I wondered what in the world I had done and if I was going to arrive at work unscathed. Yes, we South Carolinians may stick our foot in our mouth every once in awhile but I&#8217;d rather do that than sit idly by with all the decorum in the world while our health care system is turned to mush. Not on my watch. No way, no how, no sir.</p>
<p>Ace of Spades covers it like <a href="http://ace.mu.nu/archives/292066.php" target="_blank&quot;">this</a>:</p>
<blockquote><p>Personally, I think it was a bad idea but quite frankly I was taken aback by how many outright lies Obama was spewing tonight. Combine that with the number of insulting partisan attacks (even for him), I can&#8217;t blame Wilson too much for not being able to take it any more.</p>
<p>I&#8217;d suggest anyone terribly offended by Wilson&#8217;s spontaneous outburst take a second and consider how despicable it is for Obama to continue to attack the previous administration and distort its record. Is that appropriate behavior for a President speaking to a joint session of Congress?</p>
<p>You want respect? Try giving it occasionally.</p>
<p>Consider this from Obama&#8217;s speech.</p>
<p>Some of people’s concerns have grown out of bogus claims spread by those whose only agenda is to kill reform at any cost. The best example is the claim, made not just by radio and cable talk show hosts, but prominent politicians, that we plan to set up panels of bureaucrats with the power to kill off senior citizens. Such a charge would be laughable if it weren’t so cynical and irresponsible. It is a lie, plain and simple.</p>
<p>So Obama calls Palin a liar (not by name but everyone knows who he&#8217;s talking about) but we are supposed to get our panties in a bunch because Wilson yelled it out? At least Wilson had the guts to do it to in the same room.</p></blockquote>
<p><strong>Joe Wilson told more truths in his one word than Obama did in all of his.</strong> That makes him a real truther. (Insider&#8217;s Note: Whenever referring to whack jobs who think 9/11 is an inside job, I use quotations around the word &#8220;truther&#8221; because it&#8217;s too much of an oxymoron to take seriously.) </p>
<p>Hot Air has the update that reminds me that when a member of the GOP finds his or her spine, it doesn&#8217;t last for long. Joe Wilson has since <a href="http://hotair.com/archives/2009/09/09/video-gop-congressman-yells-liar-at-obama/""target=_blank">apologized</a>.</p>
<blockquote><p>“This evening I let my emotions get the best of me when listening to the President’s remarks regarding the coverage of illegal immigrants in the health care bill. While I disagree with the President’s statement, my comments were inappropriate and regrettable. I extend sincere apologies to the President for this lack of civility.”</p></blockquote>
<p><strong>I know the Congressional thing to do was to apologize. The South Carolinian thing to do would be to say, &#8220;You&#8217;re daggum right I spoke up. We were all booing him and I thought there would be continued boos to drown me out but there weren&#8217;t. I know it came across as disrespectful to some but saying illegal immigrants aren&#8217;t covered when they are in the bills that are written is disrespectful to every American. Once President Obama apologies for lying to the American people, I&#8217;ll apologize for calling him out on it during the Speech.&#8221; Now that is a non-apology apology I could gladly endorse.</strong></p>
<p><strong><u>UPDATE:</u></strong> Joe Wilson, a former immigration attorney, makes it clear that he is for LEGAL immigration and would like to take Obama up on a civil discourse on not including ILLEGAL immigrants in the health care bill. We&#8217;ll won&#8217;t hold our breath on that conversation occurring. Here&#8217;s the <a href="http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/21134540/vp/32773970#32778906""target=_blank">full clip</a>, but I stopped it after they asked him who he liked in the Clemson-Georgia Tech Game tonight. He didn&#8217;t answer so I&#8217;ll field it. <strong><em>Clemson, of course.</em></strong></p>
<p><strong><u>UPDATE II:</strong></u> It is very satisfying to know that I&#8217;m on the same wavelength as <a href=""http://michellemalkin.com/2009/09/10/unruly-moment-manufactured-outrage/""target=_blank">Michelle Malkin</a> and <a href="http://www.rushlimbaugh.com/home/daily/site_091009/content/01125106.guest.html""target=_blank">Rush Limbaugh</a>.</p>
